An Open Letter To Lyta (Leave Your Hairstyle And Focus On Your Career)
Lyta is no doubt one of Nigeria’s most talented youngsters. He came in to the industry with one of the maddest debut single titled “Time” and it turned out to be one big hit.
If you don’t know that song when it was reigning back then in 2018, you definitely must be living under the rock “Time wait for nobody, Asiko Ni gbogbo nkan” crazy jam back then.
His song “Time” brought him huge fame, he headlined couple of shows, had his own tour “Lyta and friend school tour” and then the song became the hustlers anthem on the street
8 months after he dropped “Self Made” which really didn’t get the expected buzz
How can a new artiste like Lyta drop a new song and decides not to put it up for free? Was he thinking people will buy on iTunes? Even your boss Olamide, na free we dey download him song.
I believe they took the wrong advice thinking they will make money. This is the reason why the song didn’t penetrate/ blow like his debut “Time”
As a fast rising artiste, one would have expected that Lyta would be very aggressive with his music career by churning out potential hit songs back to back but it’s surprising that he’s focusing more on his hairstyle. (No wonder he didn’t make it to the YBNL Mafia album released in 2018)
He made it to the album track cover but has no song on it Newly signed Picazo, Yomi Blaze, and Fireboy all made it to the album. This is disheartening
Ever since Lyta blew up in 2018, he has rocked up to 11 different hairstyles in a space of 12 month (This is more than any Artiste has rocked in 5 Years). This means he carries one new unique hairstyle monthly. #Pele Mr Hairdresser
If Lyta channels the same energy on his music career, he probably would have had about 10 hit songs and might be bigger than Mayorkun.
You already have a promising future ahead of you, you need to be stupidly humble and hardworking to keep growing and stay relevant.
Time wait for nobody just like you said in one of your song. Emulate your boss, Olamide who drops songs back to back just to stay relevant and be in the limelight, it pays.
You have to grow as much as you can under YBNL now. Remember, Olamide only signs a 2 year deal with any Artiste, it’s obvious you have less than a year to leave YBNL and if you leave this way, it will be hard for you to stay relevant in this harsh and highly competitive Music industry,
You can ask Lil Kesh, he knows the difference between Life inside YBNL and life outside it. Fink about it
